I came across Rosie like many other photographers I interview here on RAW, flickr. Something that is a little different about Rosie is that she uses formspring. A site which allows you to ask her anything. Thought I would mention that as she is the only photographer I have come across that is using it. Anyway to the interview!
Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m 20 living in Manchester (moved 2 weeks ago!!!!) I lived in North Carolina for 6 months, but came back January last year. I miss my cat Tabby as she stayed in Buxton when I moved. I have a slight obsession with Pizza Express and Thai takeaways with my best friend Amber. I miss her as well as she’s at Uni so we don’t see each other as we used to….
What made you get into photography?
When I first got myspace when I was about 15, I came across her pics and was literally blown away. They were all outdoors, of her having fun, with cool angles and pretty colours. I loved it, and made my parents buy me the same camera as her for my 16th birthday. Then it just escalated! But yeah, I always remember her as being the reason behind why i got my first SLR!.
How did you get started?
I got started into photography just after my GCSE’s when I realised I preferred it to art!! I enjoyed taking the photos far more than I enjoyed painting them, even though I loved that too. Initially I started off by taking simple photos, which were majorly flawed!!!, and just grew from there, in confidence and due to self teaching, in skill as well!
What sort of photography do you mainly do?
I do all sorts of photography; weddings, parties, children, model portfolios. It’s all diverse and keeps the days different 😀
What gear are you using?
I use Canon everything!! Any of their lens’ are my favorite, in my eyes Canon can do no wrong!!
Whats your favourite lens and why?
50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2 are some of my faves.
How are you marketing yourself?
I mainly market myself via online resources; I blog, Tweet and have my website that people find 🙂 I’ve also got some jobs with marketing companies which obviously gives me some more exposure. Maroon5 is an example of this…. I also get recommended by happy clients who want their families and friends to have the same experience they have!!!
Whats your favourite photo you have taken?
I don’t have any favourite images; I see flaws and areas to improve in each image I take. My best friend loves ‘Spines to rest my Spine on’ though 😀
Advice for new photographers looking to go pro?
My advice to photographers wanting to go pro; stay true to yourself. Don’t conform to stereotypes, do what you want to do. Experiment with different styles and market the brand you want people to see. Blog, tweet and never be rude to anyone!!! Haha
