Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a 20-year-old Filipino that lives in the beautiful sunny California. I’m currently studying photography to become a photography teacher and trying to start my photography business. I love music, entertaining, hanging out with friends, meeting new people, life.
What made you get into photography?
My big brother always had a Nikon d40 around the house and I never thought anything of it. Until, I wanted a cool default pic for facebook. And that’s what sparked it.
How did you get started?
I started back in 2008…I got my Canon Rebel T1i from this Asian guy on craigslist. I was so stoked because it was my very first camera and it also could record in 1080p! …at 20fps. I started playing with it and started getting familiar with every button to see what everything does. I eventually got very comfortable with getting perfect exposures and it became second nature.
What sort of photography do you mainly do?
I mainly do a lot of portraits. I really want to get into wedding photography, but I know there’s a lot of business knowledge that you NEED to know in order to be successful. I want to start doing more concept photo-shoots and bring my ideas to life.
What gear are you using?
Canon Rebel T1i / 50mm 1.4 / Kit/ Photoshop CS5
Whats your favourite lens and why?
Canon 50mm 1.4
I first got it because Jordan Voth shot with it. I love my 50mm 1.4 because of how sharp my picture comes out and the creamy bokeh. The build is a tank compared to the 1.8. I highly recommend this lens. Its pretty much attached to my camera 99.9% of the time…maybe because its my only lens 😛
How are you marketing yourself?
Flickr, Facebook, Tumblr, Business Cards
Whats your favourite photo you have taken?
Advice for new photographers looking to go pro?
I don’t really have advice because I’m not even pro, however I will end this interview with a quote from Conan O’ Brian, “If you work really hard and are kind, amazing things will happen.”
