Surfing the web I came across Stefano’s work. Yes he is Italian. Anyway I want to thank him for doing the interview especially since english is not his first language. It’s a great read so enjoy.
Tell us a little about yourself?
Hi all, I’m a professional photographer based in Milan (Italy). I was “born” like a web designer when I was 20 years old, and In my opinion this kind of experience has trained my eye to see the reality in different ways. at the same time I discovered this incredible world of the photography…before it was a passion but after a couple of years it became my work, so now I’m not Stefano the designer but Stefano…the photographer 🙂
What made you get into photography?
when I started to study photography during my first courses here in Italy with other Pro, I was noticed by them and i started to make my first little worked…as everyone at the beginning
How did you get started?
I started in a little photographic studio…very easy…but it gave me to me the possibility to make experience for studio photos. During this frist steps I have used as models my friends (I’m lucky I have a lot of nice friends) and I began to publish my first shoots on the Italian photography web sites (maxartist etc etc) in order to receive comments and suggestions…and thanks to them step by step everyday I continue to learn and to try new ways to make click (I need to say thanks to my teachers Maxu and Paolo Valentini)
What sort of photography do you mainly do?
I use to make marriage, fashion and reportage photos, but from a couple of years I began (with my partner Diego Alfaroli) to teach photography to those who want to take the first steps into this world (I love to see my students grew up and see their progress!)
What gear are you using?
Nikon…I start with it and I continue to use it at the moment…may be I will try canon…may be ☺
Whats your favourite lens and why?
It depends…for landscape I love the 14-24 f2.8 nikkor, for portraits the 70-200, but during my trips I have always on camera my 24-70 f2.8 sigma…I love to call it the all-around lens
How are you marketing yourself?
I use the social networks like facebook, It is the best way to arrive directly to the people
Whats your favourite photo you have taken?
I attached 4 pics from my portfolio…from NY, Valencia, Kenya (to shot this one I have followed the masai at least for 1 week to find the light, the position and no one around him to make the picture I had already in my mind)Rome(don’t try this at home ahahah…I have risked being invested during the work traffic time)
Advice for new photographers looking to go pro?
Never stop to try and improve their way to make click…and enjoy yourself…this is the first thing!!
