If you know me or follow this blog you would have heard me talk about this for a long time now. With the success of mirrorless cameras and Sony’s amazing NEX 7, I always said Sony would be the first to stick a full framed sensor into a NEX body.
Well rumors started popping up on all of the usual sites late last week. I was busy working on a project so didn’t get time to comment
Details at the moment are scarce. It’s definitely coming and each day or so there are more rumors that start to fill in the gaps.
Some details have come out about the lens system. The camera will be an E-A mount hybrid meaning you’ll be able to use your current E-mount lenses on it in crop mode, or A mount lenses with an adapter. This opens up a world of possibilities in terms of lens choice.
There are still all sorts of rumors flying around at the moment when something new pops up I’ll let you know.
What does this say for the faithful dSLR, myself and many others out their have said that dSLR’s are coming to the end of their cycle. It’s not going to happen over night, but if the technology keeps progressing at the rate it has been it will be sooner then later that there will suddenly be a choice.
The few things that are holding these mirrorless cameras back at the moment are, electronic view finders, ISO performance (even that is becoming less of an issue, see the FujiFilm XPro 1) and auto focus. Lenses used to be a problem but with some of the lenses I’ve seen this is rapidly becoming a non issue.

Can’t wait and want a new camera now?
Seems some images have been leaked of a Sony NEX-5R and NEX-6. No these aren’t the full framed versions you’ll probably need to hangout till 2013, these are new models that slot in between the current lines.
