Well the weekend saw an the specs of Canon’s alternative to the D600 leaked. It’s been confirmed that it will be the Canon 6D, an entry level full frameed body.
- 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor
- DIGIC5+ image processing
- ISO 100-25600 (expandable to 50-102400)
- APS-C Sized Magnesium alloy body
- Built in WI-FI & GPS
- 11 point auto focus
- 4.5fps continuous shooting
- 1/180 sync speed
- 3-inch LCD screen
- 1080 HD video recording.
It seems that both Nikon and Canon are dropping the ball when it comes to sync speed 1/200th on the D600 and only 1/180th on the 6D. Straight away that is going to turn a few people off.
As for the cost well Adorama accidentally put the preorder page up briefly with a listing price of $2099.
What makes this interesting is that the Canon 5D mkII is still being products and has a price tag of less than $2000 so I’m not sure where the 6D fits in to the scheme of things.
Canon will be announcing their Photokina products on September 17, 2012 so we should know a little bit more very soon.
