The humble mobile (cell) phone that started of with the then amazing VGA camera. It quickly moved to 1mb, 2mb, 3mb you get the picture, now most have a sensible 8mb. It’s pretty safe to say it’s having a major impact on compact camera sales around the world. There really isn’t a need for a dedicated compact camera any more.
Many have speculated including myself, that the next greatest innovation in mobile phone cameras would be the inclusion of camera manufacturer parts, which could include lenses, sensors and software.
Well today February 19th we could find out if this is going to happen. HTC has been tweeting out cryptic photos that supposedly hint to features that will be on the new HTC One smart phone. Most of the photos have produced another media attention to keep HTC in the news, smart marketing ploy, however it is this latest photo that is of most interest.
As you can see it shows Canon lenses. Now some “leading” sources seem to think that HTC will feature add=on Canon DSLR lenses. Looking at my 70-200 and probably think this won’t be the case, but who knows.
However it is much more likely that we could see a Canon branded lens which would then start the smart phone war. HTC get’s canon Samsung get’s Nikon and so on and so forth.
Interesting isn’t. What do you think?
