Last week rumours started to float around about Hasselblad’s new compact camera Stellar which would essentially be a Sony RX100. Remember the Lunar, don’t worry if you don’t, to cut a long story short the Lunar was Hasselblad’s expensive NEX-7.
We’ll the Stellar has been released and it seams that the rumours are somewhat true. Short from a grip and a different body colour it’s an original RX100.
So the Stellar’s stand out features are full HD 1080/60p video with manual controls and a larger than average point and shoot sensor that enables the user to capture extra light and reproduce every scene in truly stunning details. Sound’s good doesn’t it, however all of that is available in the RX100.
You do get some choices thought. To go along with the aluminum body, metal controls you get your choice of exotic wood or carbon fiber hand grip. The wood choices are: Padouk, Olive, Zebra (pictured above), Mahogany, Walnut and Wenge.
This camera was designed for the luxury/lifestyle sector just like the Lunar it’s not going to come cheap. With the Sony RX100 coming in at around $650 retail the Stellar is set to hit stores with a price tag of around $1,960.
